Some of you may already know that I have only seen the latest season of Doctor Who with the Eleventh Doctor. I've done a bunch of research on Doctor Who and have a pretty good grasp on its history but have only seen a handful of episodes here and there from BBC American reruns or the stray episode from an seedy back alley website.
My mother, for a good many years now, has consistently watched TV on Saturdays for one hour. It's about the only time she does watch TV. She did Star Trek, Rome, and Farscape. Just as she was wrapping up with Farscape, my Dad suggested that the next series they tackle was NuWho. And so now she's started, two Saturdays ago with Rose. Which means I've started, as well.
Yesterday was The End of the World which I have only seen bits of before. I feel it was a much better episode than the first one. I thought the mannequins were lame (don't hate me!). hahaha Rose had some shining moments in there, particularly at the end where she was grieving how this beautiful planet, her planet, was being blown to smithereens and no one was watching. Then the Doctor losing his temper when she was pushing him on who he was, where he was from... I felt like it was giving you a good look at who this Doctor was and what to expect.
I'm going to take the episodes slowly, one week at a time like Mom is, even though that's going to be a huge effort. Something's gotta keep me going through this absence of Doctor Who, right? : )

Date: 2010-09-20 06:00 pm (UTC)I know. My reading habit is HORRIBLE, but I excuse it by saying a) I'm a writer, so it helps me see how the author gets from point a to point b. b) I get seriously upset when characters die, so it helps me pick and choose when to read a book.
(But, it's all talk, probably.) BTW, if the book is any good, knowing the end doesn't make a lick of difference in how much I enjoy the story. ;)

Date: 2010-09-21 03:15 pm (UTC)...er...though I did read the Epilogue when it made its scandalous pre-book appearance online. When I saw that the fab four made it, I told myself to count my blessings and suffer the deaths. And, lemmetellyou, I still feel pretty hacked off about a few of those deaths, but it doesn't stop me from loving the books. (REMUS AND TONKS WHY??????) :)

(FRED, WHY?!?!?! [I'm an identical twin so that one hit particularly hard]) :(

I don't have many of my HP icons left... (For some reason half of my icons are from Avatar, the cartoon, and I've never been a part of that fandom. I just find Sokka hilarious...)
