 Initial impressions.

I don't have that "lajdflkajg;lkdajg;lajf" feeling. I don't even think it's that big of a cliff-hanger. Maybe it was the anxiety to try and get the episode and then buckling down and just watching the the out-of-sync sound until the opening credits. And then being interrupted. 

Um, okay. Let's try and shift through this...

Highlights: LOVED seeing the Doctor get properly angry. That was sort of "holy shit". That whole bit with the Colonel and wanting him to be called "Colonel Run Away"... wow. A bit scary there, Doctor.

Headless Monks: EUGGGHHHH They freaked me out with their twisted off necks.

Not gonna lie: I LEGITIMATELY CRIED WHEN RORY CAME IN HOLDING THE BABY. LIKE, CRIED. TEARS DOWN MY FACE.  Made me ship Amy/Rory a lot in that scene, which was surprising on my part 'cause I don't have a maternal instinct at all (and I don't ship Amy/Rory normally).

I nearly shat a brick when the Doctor said, "It's mine." I WAS ABOUT TO FLIP. Then he cleared it up and said the crib was his. And then I shat a brick 'cause it was the Doctor's crib. HE KEPT IT. HOW DID HE KEEP IT? AND IT WAS GALLIFREYAN. AND OMG. HE KEPT IT.

 

Melody Pond. River Song. The only water in the forest is the river. They swip-swapped the names. Honestly, a bit nonplussed with this revelation. I almost feel like this is just scraping the surface of who River Song is. 'Cause that still doesn't explain the man she killed, how she was able to leave her diary with Amy on her wedding day (meaning she remembered when others didn't), and a few other things I can't think of right now. I think I'll have to give this more thought. 

 

The Doctor kissed both Amy AND River. I'm not as grossed out by this as I should be. Maybe it's 'cause I ship both Amy/Doctor and River/Doctor. Oh my goodness, why are my ships now suddenly slightly... icky almost? River is the daughter of Amy and Rory but also is part Time Lord. It's like Amy, Rory, and the Time Vortex's baby. luls The Time Vortex has a baby. Also, am I a n00b in not knowing how the Time Lords came to be?

 

...Did the Doctor know the baby was Flesh when he first met it? He sniffed the baby then sniffed Amy... I thought he was... you know, exceptional in those sort of areas.

 

Also, can I get a gif of the Doctor doing his kissy face?

 

DUDE. HOW WEIRD MUST IT BE FOR RIVER TO BE TRAVELING AROUND WITH MUM AND POP?? HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH

YES. I LOVED THE OT4. And now it's more like, "Doctor pals around with a family (and also sometimes has sexy times with the daughter. AFTER he nearly had sexy times with her mum.)" And I DO NOT LIKE THAT.

EEEUUUGGGHHH As far as I'm concerned, sexy times with Amy happen in a different universe of sexy times with River. SO MAYBE THAT'S HOW IT WILL WORK IN MY HEAD CANNON. 'Cause right now it's hurting.

I vote for writing more Amy/11 smut regardless to get this nasty taste out of my mouth.

I just wrote below that someone on Tumblr suggested that maybe River was lying. Octavian said to not trust her and that whole poem about Demons Run (True love lies and friendships die). How could River tell the Doctor that she was Amy and Rory's daughter by touching his hand to the crib and having him read the Gallifreyan words? WAS HER NAME WRITTEN IN WOOD??? It made me think that River was the reincarnated Doctor which shortly made sense in my head when the Doctor said "But we... *smoochy face*" and River went, "Yessss" and the Doctor got all giddy. I THOUGHT HE WAS MAKING OUT WITH ZIMSELF.

I know exactly what you mean. I kind of just feel...empty now. I don't think I ever really wanted to know who River was. I liked the mystery of her and now...ugh. It's all so weird and out of place and I don't like it.

I nearly shat a brick laughing at this. But YES I AGREE. I wanted it to be his baby so badly. I still want it to be his baby, and not River Song. I wanted it to somehow, impossibly, be Amy's, Rory's, and the Doctor's baby all at the same time. I know it's wrong but IDEC. Holy shit. That crib is 908 years old. And he has kept it all this time and he is just giving it to Amy like it's no big gesture.

:( actually, I sort of did too. I watched the episode again last night and I have to admit that River and Eleven are absolutely adorable and flirty and I sort of ship them more now and want to write fics about all of their adventures. I mean, River IS made up of the two people he loves, so in a way, he sort of still gets to be with them.

Doesn't mean I'm ever going to give up on Amy/Eleven. I'm just going to keep writing pre-series six UST and OT3 Team TARDIS and AU/Adultery Amy/Eleven.

I haven't rewatched the episode yet so I'll see if any of my views change and I get more of a squick factor the second go around. I really don't think I'll be able to completely give up on Amy/11 as they're my first Doctor Who ship. *le siiiigh*

The biggest thing about last night's ep is that it made me nostalgic for the time before The Oncoming Storm. Listening to the EyePatch (And now I have switched sides and I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT HER TO BE THE RANI C'MON IT FUCKING WORKS) and then River talk about what he's become made me care about the days when he wasn't. Know what I mean?

Also, this kinda makes the "bunk beds" line in Doctor's Wife make a lot more sense now doesn't it? There's no way any Doctor was "innocent" enough to think a married couple would want bunk beds, yeah?

Though, once again, the stupids in the fandom are rearing their stupid faces. "If River can regen (cause we're assuming little astronaut girl = Melody" then why can't DoctorDonna? BECAUSE DOCTORDONNA ISN'T A TIMELORD YOU USELESS WASTES OF SPACE. The Doctor was very clear, Time Lord BRAIN, Human DNA.

Sorry dear, I've never shipped 11/Amy so I have no issues there. And while, it is true that Octavius did say that River wasn't to be trusted... to those outside the TARDIS. Oh yes, I can see her lying and manipulating to humans and aliens to get what she wants and needs... but to The Doctor? I don't think she ever could. There were plenty of instances where she could have invented ANY lie to placate him, to stop him from asking questions and instead she avoided. She dodged and refused to answer. Know what I mean?

And now, since my nostalgia has hit a critical point. I am watching An Unearthly Child. ^__^

LOL. Well, a long story short TOO LATE back in the day, BBC shot shows in one long shot, no second takes. Lines were flubbed in the first filming. A second pilot was shot, with changed costumes and lines and at some point the two were combined to make one epic aired pilot. The DVD I have has the first two that were combined. I think. It's the Beeb so it's not going to make much sense anyway.

It's packed somewhere. I'm saddened cause apparently I lost my favorite Ten novel, it takes place in the wild west, Native Americans call him Rides in Night, Martha named her horse Rose. It was fun all around.

I am so confused! I loved the episode and felt let down by the reveals. Not as much as I thought I would, when I was reading spec and hoping it wouldn't come true, but let down nonetheless.

It does weird things to my platonic ships to have River be Amy and Rory's kid. Like, I don't properly ship Amy/Doctor or Amy/Rory/Doctor, but I do like seeing them be best friends and have cuddle parties in fic. Now I feel like it's weird for the Doctor to be doing stuff like that with his potential parents-in-law....

The second one, sooooo agree. I didn't even think of River's reveal interfering with puppy piles between the three of them. ;_; NO! NO. The Doctor can hold onto multiple roles. Besides, Amy and Rory don't know the Doctor smooched with River, she's his future, and yadda yadda. They can still have snuggle times and it not be weird. The Doctor loves them. Matt Smith even said it, The Doctor loves Amy the most, hence the Demons Run battle (though I imagine he meant at that period of time 'cause clearly he'll love River more later). I think I read in an Alex Kingston interview that it's a future incarnation of the Doctor who falls in love with River. I thought *that* was intriguing!

As far as the diary at Amy's wedding goes, that makes a little more sense now that we know that River is Amy and Rory's daughter. We saw her for a moment at the wedding walking outside, so logically she must be time travelling. So it's sort of like a self-fulfilling prophecy, or a chicken-and-egg thing. River exists in Amy's time, therefore she must be a time-traveller. She has the diary, so it's logical to assume that she knows the doctor in the future-- which means Amy must have remembered him. So River drops the diary, Amy remembers, River is born, meets the Doctor, gets her diary, and drops it at her mother's wedding to make sure that the Doctor is remembered.

tl;dr spacey-wacey shenanigans. Did that make any sense? The logistics of time travel make my head hurt, so it's likely it didn't :/
