tasty_kateOkay, actually I looooved Monty Python first, but Harry Potter was my first proper British obsession. And last night I saw the first part of The Deathly Hallows. And omgomgomg, I loved it. hahaha I had one of my British friends say... Okay, I was going to copy and paste what he said but it seems he's deleted his comment from Facebook. HAHA Pottheads ftw! Anywho, he said something to the like that it wasn't a good film, 1/3rd of the audience left before the film was finished, and Warner Brothers is just trying to milk their dollars. I responded,
"I'm going to disagree. I felt like the film was funny, heart-warming, gut-wrenching, and scary all in the appropriate parts. It was much better paced than the previous movies and I felt like the acting was very good. It's been a while since I've read the book (actually, since it first came out) so I can't comment on that."
My bestie, the aformentioned in this journal as Sailor Mercury, backed me up with,
"Kate, I'm with you on this one! Loved it :) And I felt it followed the book pretty well, too. Some parts were taken word for word."
So there. :p
Some bits I loved:
All the Harrys!! Including Daniel Radcliff in a bra. I lol'ed.
Harry and Ginny kissing. omgomogomg!!!! Then George sauntering in. hahahahah
Harry and Hermione dancing... oh my goodness, sooo precious. I thought it was really touching. : )
My reaction to Harry about to jump into the frozen pond, "Eep, he's going to get frost bite!" NEVER MIND HYPOTHERMIA AND DIE. Way to prioritize, Kate.
The wedding and Fleur's dress!!
Fred and George. Yeah. Just the two of them. hahah (I have a predisposition of liking them for two reasons: I am an identical twin myself and I have a thing for redheads... and they're amazing... especially in tuxes)
That woman kissing Ron, thinking it was her husband. hahahah
Things I didn't like:
Hermione obliviating herself from her parents' memory. :(
Hedwing... I almost cried. Almost.
Doby... :(:(:(:(
Waaaggh, George! And I only got sadder thinking of Fred!
Tonks about to announce... :(:(:(:(:( Oh my gosh, I'm going to cry so hard next year.
Dumbledore's grave being busted open by You-Know-Who.
Draco being all torn between what he has to do and what's right. I almost feel bad for the boy.
Ron being splinched.
After the movie, who I saw with my boyfriend's best friend, I wondered out loud when it'd be coming out. He said next year. I said, "Like, January 1st, next year?" HAHAHA
...No, more like this time next year. >:(
