So, uh, I watched these episodes either the day I left for Italy or the day before... Either way, when I looked at my notes, I didn't remember what I may have been referring to... I was sort of cryptic. "HAHAHAHAHA Jack" doesn't do much to jog the memory.
I didn't particularly care for the whole game show set up going on but I suppose they were pretty big five years ago... heck, I didn't even watch them then. I just remember not being 100% impressed with this episode. The best bits were Jack getting dressed (and undressed).
The Parting of Ways was MUCH better. Maybe the previous episode needed to be crappy to set up for this glorious piece of work. Some of the lines, guh! Loved them. Daleks make a reappearance, typical. I was curious, was RTD trying to make a point about religion with the head honcho Dalek being all crazy-like and "I am God!" sort of thing? Like, God is no better than a Dalek...? Scratch that, my head was on a thousand things that day when I watched it.
That bit where the Doctor deceived Rose to go into the TARDIS so he could send her home... For a hot moment I thought he was going to have her pilot the TARDIS to try and blow it up. Then I checked myself and went, "Holy shit, he's taking her home!" I was aghast. Didn't see that one coming. Way to get one up with Jackie, though. After Rose gets back to that same date and time and she looks into the heart of the TARDIS, she says the most bad ass quote I've heard in a long while:
You are tiny. I can see the whole of time and space, every single atom of your existence, and I divide them.
And she delivered it to perfection! Loved it! I nearly got chills. Then, the inevitable happened... Nine regenerated. And pooey, just as I was getting to like him. Didn't think it was a great entrance for Ten, commenting about new teeth, but meh, what can you do.
BRING IT ON, TEN. Let's see if you can live up to the expectations this fandom has given me.

I think the big thing with the game shows was that the rl hosts of the shows they were based on did the voices to the androids... so you might have to be a Brit to appreciate them fully, idk. Well, not the one based on Big Brother, of course. Ok, I'm rambling. xD

I loved Billie Piper's delivery of that line, too.

Yeah, we had game shows like that that were quite popular here in the US (particularly the Big Brother one), but I was never fond of them. Maybe being a Brit would have helped me appreciate them more. :)

Dude, she was kick ass.

Game shows are weird, for real. I'll take scripted shows any day!

'The Parting of the Ways' was a great finale, though I still think he shouldn't have left Jack like that...

Re: Ten's entrance... There's a five-minute special/extended scene or something where he gets used to his new body, before his actual first ep. A bit more interesting than "new teeth". ;)
Maybe you've seen that one?

Oooohhh!! No, I haven't! Know the title or where I could find it?

YES!!! Thank you so much! :D You were right, that was much better. I loved Rose's skepticism. Thanks for sharing!!

Yeah, I don't know exactly how well the cultural references translate for the game shows but they were pretty spot on for right here right then. The Weakest Link is still on and still being presented by the same woman.

As I said above to [livejournal.com profile] honeynoir, I got the references, I just didn't care for the premise. =/ Ah, well, the second episode made up for it in my eyes. :)

I never liked the shows themselves either but the accuracy with which they were having the piss taken out of them was perhaps more diverting for Brits.
