Fanvid question

I asked on Tumblr but I'll probably get more responses here... What program should I use/do you use to make fanvideos? There's a couple ideas that refuse to leave me.

Windows MovieMaker 2.6 which is like the most basic program you can use, but does have the advantage of being ridic easy to use.

I can still download that one? I'm using Windows 7 right now (came with the lappy) so I hope I can use it...
