Remembrance of the Daleks
After the suggestion of themuslimbarbie, I watched my first Seven serial, "Remembrance of the Daleks." I'm not sure how tickled I am with Seven, though I do really like Ace. Maybe it'll just take some time for me like him more. And now, recap:
What is the Seventh Doctor’s accent? He rolls his Rs but… Is he just being pretentious? Hahaha Also, I noticed that the music was a victim of the 80’s. Sad, but I suppose with the utterly quintessential 80's Ace, it's appropriate.
The Doctor nose booped Ace... d’aw…
Ace taking on four Daleks—FUCK YEAH!!
First she loses her boombox, then her aluminum bat… wth.
So, uh, not sure if this is a British thing or a Doctor Who thing, but I have been pronouncing Omega completely different. The Doctor/Daleks/Whoever say Oo-mee-guh. I say Oh-may-guh. Just thought I'd throw that in there...
The Daleks look like they’re gonna fall apart any moment. Hahahaha
Did the Doctor leave his *calling card* on the Time Controler? hahaha Okay, maybe I lied, I do kind of like him. :D
Sergeant dude: “Ace, I didn’t know it was the Daleks. I was just doing Mr. Radcliff a favor.”
Ace: “Do me a favor and drown yourself.”
HAHAHA
Designated Pretty Lady: “Doctor, how do you do that?”
Doctor: “Do what?”
DPL: “How do you just rewire a piece of alien machinery?”
Doctor: “It’s easy when you have 900 years of experience.”
Aaaand enter the age debate. Sure, there's the catch-all answer of "the Doctor doesn't know how old he is", but Eleventy is so certain about his age and actually is consistent with it later... bah, forget it. There are other things I can get worked up over.
Darvos: “The Daleks! Shall! Become! lords of time! We! shall! Become! all—“
Doctor: “—Powerful! Crush the lesser races! Conquer the galaxy! Unimaginable power! Unlimited rice pudding! Etcetera! Etcetera!”
HAHAHAHA Okay, I definitely lied, I really do like him. :D
Daaaaamn, Doctor! Burn up Skaro! Blow up the Dalek mother ship! You’re so sexy when you’re cold hearted.

Ahh yes the age debate, like you I will save it for another day when I am not as tired.

Of course my favorite is when the Doctor makes cameos both 10 and 11 have done that.
The one with ten is called "the wedding of SJS" I can't remember the name of the one that the 11th Doctor was in.

This story was okay, but I think you get more out of it if you've seen "Unearthly Child" with all the nods.

And holy shit, do I love Ace.
Man, now I wanna go and watch some more Classic!Who. Well, I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend.

I think I'm gonna conquer the movie next. :D

Oooh! Lemme know how that is. I think I'm gonna watch Seven and Ace's arcs (I really wanna write an Eleven/Ace fic) and then I might do the movie.

Personally I pronounce it "Oh-meh-guh".
The Daleks being wobbly was actually the result of them having to give them bigger wheels in order to get them to roll over the cobblestones so they look like their drunk. To quote Sylvester from the DVD commentary, "Whee! I've been down the pub!"
I think the Doctor has been lying about his age for years, though the only times he specified an exact age was in Two's "The Tomb of the Cybermen" (one of my favorites) when he said he was 450 and in Seven's first story "Time and the Rani" where he said he was 953. Otherwise he's been 900 since he was Five. :)

HAHAHA That's so funny with the DVD commentary. :D:D
Oooh, I wana check out "Tomb of the Cybermen" sometime in the future. :D:D Jamie is his companion, right?

I love DVD commentaries, especially cast ones. I don't remember if you've seen Five's last episode "The Caves of Androzani" but Peter Davison and Nicola Bryant are in the commentary along with the director or someone and the comments he makes during the regeneration scene are HILARIOUS.
And yep, Jamie's the companion. And Victoria as well. It's also, I believe, the first appearance of the Cybermats.

I haven't seen any Peter Davison episodes but cannot wait until I get to him!! Though I think I'm going to tackle the movie and Eight next. :D

SCOTTISH. And, yes, WE ROLL RS.
Also, I noticed that the music was a victim of the 80’s.
Ha! Trufax. THE WINNER OF THIS AWFUL COMP IS BATTLEFIELD THOUGH.
Someone upthread said you probs get more out of this ep if you've seen Unearthly Child, and also might get more if you've seen any of s7, since two of the guest characters in this are (very knowingly) Liz Shaw and Brigadier substitutes.

SCOTTISH. And, yes, WE ROLL RS.
HAHAHHA And I'm corrected! I knew Scots rolled their R's, but side from that little characteristic, it didn't sound terribly Scottish to me. Maybe I'm just being a dumb American. >_<
Ah, yes, I caught the reference to the Brigadier substitute when the Doctor accidentally called him "Brigadier", but I don't think I'm terribly familiar with Liz Shaw...

Ha! It never sounded particularly Scottish to me either until I found online fandom and then it was like "oh yeah, so it is." It never registered like that to me cause that mild a Scottish accent sounds pretty much neutral to me.
but I don't think I'm terribly familiar with Liz Shaw...
Season 7, with Three and UNIT. SHE IS AMAZING. She's a scientist UNIT nick from Cambridge to help out with alien invasion stuff.

Oh, and the pronunciation of 'Omega' is British. I think the way they say it is hella cute. It always reminds me a bit of a Valley Girl saying 'Like, oh meh gah!'. But then I'm weird.
Anyway, I hope you keep watching Seven/Ace. I think things get really amazing in their second/last season ('Curse of Fenric'!). :)

Aw, glad I got to see some of your faves! And thanks for clearing up the pronunciation confusion.
It always reminds me a bit of a Valley Girl saying 'Like, oh meh gah!'.
HAHAHHAHA ADORABLE. I will now and forever think of that when I hear it.
Ooh, yes, I'll have to check out "Curse of Fenric"! Thanks for reccing it. :D
