At first I thought it was a Tumblr thing. You know, young kids getting their panties in a twist over this and that. But no, it's in blogs elsewhere that have been linked by who_daily . It's people hating on characters, hating on actors, hating on producers, hating on writers and their stories, hating on direction (as in yes, directors). And it kind of makes me go:

There was some hate for the last episode, but even in reviews I read where they had good things to say, they then hated on the WHOLE LAST SEASON. I was like, "....really?"

Some are worse than others... I do have to say that Doctor Who can get pretty bad. Spooks is pretty vicious mainly because people come over all elitist on the forums le sigh.

And I've seen people end epic hate-rants with "doctor who is my favourite show!" no joke.

Srsly tho, I know exactly what you mean. It's for this reason that I pretty much stick to my flist and doctoreleven. If people don't like Eleven's era, well, fine, but that doesn't mean I want to read about it. I like my happy little corner of fandom <3

Yeah, I should do that, too. But occasionally I like to read stuff to make me go, "WTF?!" And you bring up a good point: doctoreleven is PERFECT for that tiny corner of fandom that only has fun, positive, ridiculous stuff to say. I think for the most part brb_gallifrey is the same from what I've experienced.
Btw, I found something on the interwebs that was non-Doctor Who related that may make you stare at your screen, if you're in a "WTF WAS THAT ABOUT?!?!?!" sort of mood. :)

No, seriously. The bigger the show, the more fandom will do this. People like to complain and armchair write/act/produce. Makes them feel important and superior and a part of the process I guess.

My suggestion? If you can't ignore them? Troll the everloving shit out of them and laugh as their heads asplode. It's kinda awesome.
