The End of Ten

I should probably do a big ol' squeel post about the last... what was it, seven or so episodes I watched? Let's see, we had that last three parter at the end of Season 4, the Christmas special, the Waters of Mars, and then the End of Time parts 1 & 2.
The three-parter at the end of S4-- whew, that was like RTD having his big ol' farewell, wasn't it? But it wasn't much of a farewell at all... Either way, it was incredibly epic and a little over done, but at this point I'm beginning to think that's how Doctor Who rolls.
I didn't really watch The Next Doctor 'cause I had seen that episode a couple months back and kinda wanted to truck through to the main goal beingEleven's appearance Ten's regeneration.
So next in line was Planet of the Dead. Cute episode. Nothing glaringly important stands out to me. I liked Christina and the other people enough though none left a really big impression to me. I feel like the only continuity this special had with all the other episodes and the ones coming was the woman who had the gift of prophecy who told the Doctor that his song was ending soon. Aside from that, mosey along now.
The Waters of Mars was really good. I really, really liked this episode. And normally these types of episodes I would say I really, really didn't like them but I know that it was just written well. The people being taken over by the parasites, wow. Super scary. And the Doctor, knowing what was going to happen and being so torn... At the end, I really didn't like the Doctor. I think I remember just saying to the screen in front of me, "Whoa, Doctor. Whoa." And I gave Captain Adalaide Brooke two hearty thumbs up for knowing when to stand up to the Doctor who did something wrong... and for doing the right thing even though it was pretty horrific. I was glad that he was able to see he royally fucked up, but a bit late, right?
I watched these episodes right around Christmas time but didn't feel much like writing them up. Over the course of the next week or so, I found a friend from high school who really likes Doctor Who. I invited him over to watch The End of Time parts 1 & 2 (I had yet to watch) and the two Meanwhile in the TARDIS scenes (he had not seen them). Unlike the last friend I watched Doctor Who with, I think this buddy will be game for more dorky nights. : ) Doctor Who TV had already spoiled a lot of the story to me, so even before getting into it, I already knew the Master comes back and that Wilf would be the one to knock four times.
I was SO glad Wilf came back. He just may be my favorite companion. This man, I love him to bits. I wish he was my granddad. <3 Everything he said and every gesture he did, I was cheering him on. Even though I had started to feel my heart harden a bit to Ten, that scene with Wilf and him in the coffee shop and Ten breaks down a bit, my heart broke in two. Okay, fine, I still love you. Gosh, this relationship with Ten is an emotional roller coaster.
And cue Oooh, Donna doesn't get changed; Oooh, Donna still remembers some; Oooh, Time Lords come back; Uuuugh, Doctor holding a gun; Oooh, Master killed of yet again...? Though was he really killed or was he just thrown back into Gallifrey with the other Time Lords in that time locked place? ALSO! Who the eff was that woman that the Doctor did his knowingly glance to and that had been appearing to Wilf? My buddy suggested it was the Doctor's mom or his wife. I don't know... I mean, I can't even speculate, I haven't the faintest.
Even though I had already seen the regeneration on YouTube before, that one line always gets me: "I don't want to go." He just sounds so helpless and sad... :( Don't worry, your next incarnation rocks my fuggin' funky socks off. Any idea why Ten's regeneration was so destructive? I mean, some other Doctors just slowly faded into the next one like it was no biggie, and here Ten is, exploding out of every appendage. But anywho! After that ending, Buddy and I had to watch The Eleventh Hour. :p And now we come full circle.
...IS IT SPRING YET!??!?!
