Moff thinks some of us need a date.
Nov. 10th, 2010 01:20 pmJust read this interview with Steven Moffat. This whole interview had me cracking up for several reasons. His position on the whole Amy-attacking-the-Doctor bit:
I just thought it would be funny. ‘Cause the Doctor is used to deflecting people who are madly in love with him, but he’s never had to deflect someone who has a much shorter and more passionate agenda.
Well, that's a way to put it!
And then when asked whether the Doctor was capable of being sexual:
I think he has at some point in his life indulged. Whether he still does is a secret between him and that big blue box.
We all know the Doctor and the TARDIS is the only true OTP.
Then a bit later, the interviewer starts treading on the fan base of Doctor Who. There was some vague suggestion to a River Song Facebook group that may have not put her in the best light. And then (this is the better bit), the interviewer asked him if he knew that there was a blog dedicated to Matt Smith's hair. I, ladies and gentlemen, follow that blog. Moff replied:
Well, you see, these people just need some form of relationship in their lives. Go on a date, in the name of mercy! [Laughs] Oh, I’m so mad. Anyway, you were saying?
But... my man's in Italy! I can't go on a date!
It's all in good fun. I consider myself a pretty big dork when it comes to this stuff. But don't get me wrong, there's some bad apples in every fandom. You know, the ones who will cross that line? I think sometimes internet allows us to forget that when we talk about actors and actresses, that they're real people, too. The anonymity of the internet lets us get away with saying some, quite frankly, offensive and disgusting things. It's one thing to write this or that about a fictional character, but a whole 'nother realm when you're talking about real people.
...not sure where I was going with that one...
In other news, do the Video Diaries off of the S5 DVD make anyone else feel sea sick?
