THREE recaps?
So, uh, I may have got a little carried away last night when I came home from work. I (mostly) intended on watching just one episode of Series 1 but it was Father's Day! And it made me cry! And the previews showed me Captain Jack, a character who I've heard much about but never seen for myself and knew he'd be my pick-me-up. And then it was the first half of a two-parter and I certainly couldn't stop there! And it was a Santa Moff episode! So yeah. Three episodes. O dear lordy...
Father's Day
Red flags, say what? If anyone, ANYONE says they want to see a dead relative or loved one, doesn't anyone else's sirens go off? That's always bad news bears. I was cringing through most of this episode, really questioning the Doctor's competencies. He knows humans: we're emotional creatures and shit like dead fathers from before we are a year old is a jack pot of psychological issues. So he can go ahead and freak out on Rose, but to be honest, I would have never brought her there in the first place. Would have said something like, "You can go visit your own time stream" or something to that sort. Just takes care of a lot of potential sticky issues.
When Rose's dad found out that she was his daughter from the future, I nearly burst out crying. I'm a horrible sucker for Daddy/Daughter relationships, mainly 'cause I have a fab. one with my own pops.
Doctor: Don't touch the baby.
Rose: I'm not stupid.
Doctor: Coulda fooled me.
God damn, Doctor! His attitude was not a nice one. And for reasons already mentioned, I did not side with him. I also didn't side with Rose 'cause she wasn't making the best of decisions. So I was more with Poppa Tyler... I suppose. haha
Then after the break up and snappy bits, Doctor and Rose decide to make up. He touches her face (aw), hugs her (Aww!) and Rose yet again gets all cozy and reaches into his jacket pocket. Srlsy, kids, this is how fanfictions begin.
And by the end of it, the Doctor has died and reappeared, the TARDIS has begun to materialize, vanishes in thin air, then reappears, Daddy sacrifices himself, and Kate is left feeling like a piece of shit. My notes say, "Worst. Episode. Ever." Too much of an emotional roller coaster ride.
The Empty Child
So to make myself feel better, I watch the next one. The opening scene where the Doctor takes the kittie in his arms-- precious!! I was totally thrown with the TARDIS phone ringing. Leave it to Moffat to think of something like that, he's fuggin brilliant. I may have lol'd when the first introducing scene of Captain Jack has him a) zooming in on Rose's ass and b) slapping another soldier's ass. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner. I had no idea that Jack was American. Like, no idea. Yay, big points for us!
I can't tell you how much those kids and adults with gas masks FREAKED ME THE HELL OUT. For each of those scenes, I had my scary movie pose (hands over face, fingers spaced slightly so I can watch the TV, legs curled up to my chest).
Wow, Captain Jack is so smooth. This man is like butter. None of that margarine shit. "I try to never discuss business with a clear head." haha Great mentality. And then he goes in for the kiss, god damn!! That was one steamy scene!
Should I recongize the name of the hospital (Albion Hospital)? They did a pan out of the shot like it was particularly important...
Rose, you get points in my book for referencing Star Trek. "Mr. Spock." HAHAHAH
Rose and the Doctor banter back and forth how she doesn't think "The Doctor" is a good enough title, and how does he get on without a real name? He goes, "Nine centuries in; I'm coping." This Doctor loves to bring up his age. haha
The Doctor Dances
I didn't take as many notes for this one because I really enjoyed just watching it. Plus, this was the third episode of the night, the guilt of not doing homework was starting to get at me. haha
Doctor: Go to your room!
Creepy Kids: *turn around and go back to beds & etc.*
Doctor: I'm really glad that worked, those would have been terrible last words.
HAHA Oh, Doctor... THEN! There's a bit where makes me spin my head from the likeliness: "There's a banagrove there now. I like bananas. Bananas are good." Um, sounds a lot like to me, "It's a fez. I where a fez now. Fezes are cool."
Captain Jack streams the song they danced to in the previous episode into the room that the Doctor and Rose are trapped in. Jack goes, "Remember this one, Rose?" The Doctor looks around, a bit clueless and she responds, "...our song." ADORABLE. hahaha I could have quoted the WHOLE DAMN SCENE with the dialog between the Doctor and Rose. Gosh, it was giggle-tastic.
The only other notes I made was when Jack came on the TARDIS and there was some suggestion of him coming in to dance with Rose, all I kept thinking of was, "Who is he going to dance with??" Would it be the Doctor or Rose? ...but no one. :( Le sigh. I can't wait to see where they take Jack's character.

Loved TEC/TDD, though. Oh, Captain Jack. I'd love to see him meet Amy, they could have some sort of wit war. XD
And I think the hospital was the same one from the Slitheen eps... might be wrong, tho.

The Doctor should introduce them like now... and if he balks, Jack and River are supposedly from the same time period so they could know each other, so River could also introduce Jack to Amy. SOMEHOW. I'm not grasping at straws here, nuh-uh.
