The Year Through Music

 Stealing the idea from ladymercury_10 , I'm going to present to you the songs I love that were introduced to me this year. I'll try and go in rough chronological order, but bare with me; it's been a long year. All links go to YouTube and the ones with asterisks (*) next to them is a particularly funky video that you should probably check out. :D

That last one I listened to for the first time when their album It's Blitz! came out last year. I didn't really give it much attention until this year so I added it at the end. :)
From what I understand, Pumpkin Soup had been a hit a while back, maybe even last year...? But it was a Doctor Who confidential that turned me onto the song. Now I love it. <3 <3

Thanks for giving me a great year, fandom. I've been watching more of S4 but I haven't been able to keep up with the episode re-caps... Damn, I should have done a recap for the Christmas special... ah, well. Here's to 2011, a brilliant year that not only contains me turning a quarter of a century old, I will also be graduating with my Master's degree! The scariest part is that I have absolutely no idea what I'll be doing this time next year. Isn't it exciting? :D

Silence in the Library & etc

 Sorry, sorry, second post in one day...

I watched Moffat's two-parter where River Song was introduced and... I won't do a full recap, I just wanted to make a confession then amend that confession.

When I watched S5 and the whole Flesh and Stone two-parter & etc, I was not a fan of River. Everyone in fandom was exploding with how fuggin badass she was and all I kept going was, "I don't know what the hype is about..." She was interfering with my personal fannon and to me she just sounded cocky with a constant "I know something you don't" smile on her face but not in a fun way. I didn't hate her, I just didn't love her. Maybe it was my general lack of understanding of River's character. I started with S5 and ever since then, have been making my way through the NuWho.

And tonight, I watched the introduction of River Song in S4. Seeing the River/Doctor interaction in this light gave me a whole new appreciation for the relationship, for River as a character. Particularly the whole bit right before she knocked herself off and she told the Doctor of the last time she saw him and he had a new hair cut and took her to the singing towers and he cried and gave her his sonic... My heart was wrenching from me, thinking of Eleven doing that scene... I'm bubbling with theories as to why the Doctor would have given her his true name but I'll hold those at bay for now while I percolate on them.

TL;DR: I'm a River convert.
