You bring up a good point, yet I feel like in different episodes, particularly Amy's Choice and The Big Bang, it seems that the Doctor may harbor some sort of feelings for her. I like to think romantic feelings, though with Moffat's teaser ("you will gasp in astonishment of his true relationship with Amy Pond"), I suppose only time will tell. :)
